Nash heart of Suns
By FRANK ZICARELLI, QMI Agency

At face value, Steve Nash, the face of the Suns franchise, is going nowhere.

But with Phoenix going nowhere in the West, the possibility of Nash being moved prior to the Feb. 24 trade deadline does exist, even though Suns management says otherwise.

Nash doesn't want to get traded, which is kind of sad given the Suns aren't good and it would look awfully good on his resume if that elusive NBA title ever was won.

Lon Babby, Phoenix's president of basketball operations, referred to Nash as "the sun, the moon and the stars" of the franchise to reinforce to all concerned that the Hall of Fame bound point guard wasn't on the trade block.

Nash re-upped in Phoenix in 2009, a deal that expires next season, assuming there is one.

As early as last spring, the Suns were in the throes of a Western final against the Lakers with a legitimate shot of advancing to the NBA championship.

Fast forward to this season and the Suns can barely beat a decimated Cleveland team.
