DALLAS -- Dallas Mavericks forward Caron Butler is expected to miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery Tuesday to repair a ruptured right patellar tendon.
The operation was performed by team physician Dr. T.O. Souryal at Texas Sports Medicine.
The injury occurred late in the first quarter of Saturday's loss to Milwaukee.
Just after Jason Kidd sank a short bank shot, Butler went up for a potential rebound, but while in the air grabbed his right knee. He came down awkwardly on his left ankle, but walked off the floor.
Butler averaged 15.0 points and 4.1 rebounds a game in 29 contests this season.
