EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The New Jersey Nets have acquired guard Sasha Vujacic from the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for veteran forward Joe Smith.
The three-team deal also sends Nets guard Terrence Williams to the Houston Rockets.
In addition, New Jersey will obtain the Lakers first-round draft choice in 2011 and the Rockets first-round selection in 2012 while sending two second- round picks to Los Angeles.
The Lakers will also acquire the draft rights to center Sergei Lishchuk from the Rockets.
Vujacic has spent his entire seven-year NBA career with the Lakers and has averaged just 1.8 points in 11 games this season.
Over 420 career games, the native of Slovenia has posted 4.8 points and 1.7 rebounds.
"This trade benefits our team in both the short and long term," said New Jersey general manager Billy King. "Sasha is a veteran NBA player who will add depth to our backcourt rotation, while the addition of the two future number one picks adds to our assets as we look to rebuild into a championship contender."
Smith, a 16-year pro, has only appeared in four games for the Nets this season, averaging six-plus minutes per appearance.
Williams has played in 10 Nets games this season, averaging 6.7 points and 3.6 rebounds. He also spent time with New Jersey's Development League team before being recalled on December 7.
