NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The NBA has approved the sale of the Golden State Warriors to a group led by Joseph Lacob and Peter Guber.
Chris Cohan had owned the team since 1995 and in July sold the club for a reported price of $450 million.
"We are delighted to welcome Joe Lacob and Peter Guber as majority owners of the Warriors," said NBA commissioner David Stern in a statement Friday. "Their commitment to the community, strong ownership group and business acumen will benefit the Warriors and their passionate fans both on and off the court."
The Warriors are off to a 6-3 start this season after finishing with a dismal 26-56 mark in 2009-10.
