Warriors guard strains lower back

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Golden State guard Monta Ellis was diagnosed with a strained lower back.

Ellis had x-rays taken along with a CT scan which revealed the damage, suffered early in the fourth quarter of Monday's game in Toronto when he fell awkwardly to the floor while driving the baseline and collided with a pair of Raptors defenders.

The sixth-year pro was helped off the court then was taken to a local hospital, and remained in Toronto overnight.

He is listed as day-to-day and will rejoin the team in New York later in the day. Golden State takes on the Knicks Wednesday at Madison Square Garden.

In seven games this season, the 25-year-old has set a sizzling pace with 27.9 points per game along with 4.3 rebounds and 4.4 assists per contest.
