Blazers sign Oberto

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Portland Trail Blazers signed forward Fabricio Oberto on Monday.

Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"We are pleased to welcome Fabricio to Portland, and feel he can help us by providing depth in the frontcourt," said Blazers general manager Rich Cho. "He's a veteran centre who has achieved success at both the NBA and international levels."

After beginning his NBA career with a four-year stint in San Antonio The 35- year-old Argentine played with the Washington Wizards last season, averaging 1.5 points and 1.8 rebounds over 57 games.

A member of Argentina's gold-medal winning squad at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, Oberto has posted 3.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in 331 contests.
