MIAMI -- The Miami Heat's Mike Miller reportedly suffered a thumb injury in practice on Wednesday and could miss several week's worth of action.

Miller, 30, signed a free agent contract with Miami this offseason that was worth a reported $25 million over five years.

The Florida product was starting at shooting guard in the preseason as a result of Dwyane Wade's hamstring injury. While Wade slowly recovers, Miller may have sustained an even worse ailment when he got his hand caught in a teammate's jersey in practice.

According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Miller is scheduled to see a hand specialist in the near future to determine the extent of the injury.

Miller, a career 40.5% three-point shooter, has been on three teams the last three years, playing 54 games for Washington last season and averaging 13.7 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists.
