Splitsville for Carter, wife?
STEVE BUFFERY -- Toronto Sun

There are reports out of New Jersey that former Raptors star Vince Carter and his wife of two years, Ellen Rucker, have initiated divorce proceedings.

According to the New Jersey Star-Ledger, the Orlando Magic may pursue Carter next summer, when he is able to become a free agent. Carter may want to sign with either the Magic or the Charlotte Bobcats to be close to his one-year-old daughter -- if Rucker decides to move back to Orlando or to her hometown of Charlotte.

The two met while they both were attending the University of North Carolina in the mid-1990s. Rucker's sister is married to Antawn Jamison of the Washington Wizards. Jamison and Carter were college teammates at UNC.

There were rumours that Rucker encouraged Carter to ask for a trade from Toronto in 2004.
