ST. LOUIS - The replay was shown again and again on Tuesday night.

Sid Bream, who on his best day ran like he’d been unleashed from a night in hobbles, slid home, bad knees and all, avoiding a diving tag of catcher Mike LaValliere ... SAFE!

The Atlanta Braves had a walk-off win against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Oct. 14, 1992 in Game 7 of the National League Championship Series, advancing to the World Series against the Blue Jays.

“I saw replays and almost got sick to my stomach again,” Kevin Towers said Wednesday.

Now general manager of the Arizona Diamondbacks, Towers’ heart was in Pittsburgh watching Cincinnati Reds’ Zack Cozart bounce to second baseman Neil Walker who threw to first baseman Justin Morneau for the final out, giving the Bucs their first post-season win since 1992.

And on Thursday afternoon, the Pirates begin their best-of-five NL division series against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium.
