Arlington, TX - Detroit Tigers outfielder Delmon Young has been left off the roster for the American League Championship Series after suffering a left oblique strain during Game 5 of the Division Series against the New York Yankees.
Young hit three homers in the series to help the Tigers knock off the Yankees, including a solo blast in the first inning of Thursday's clinching 3-2 victory. He left the contest prior to the bottom of the seventh inning.
In five playoff games against the Yankees, Young hit .316 with six hits in 19 at-bats. His three homers -- all solo shots -- gave him a club record for most home runs in one postseason series.
The Tigers replaced Young with infielder Danny Worth for the ALCS against the Texas Rangers. Worth batted .270 in 30 games for the Tigers this season.
