It's one thing for Arizona Diamondbacks players to be upset at the Los Angeles Dodgers for their celebration methods, but it's quite another when a United States Senator and former Presidential candidate rips them and calls them "idiots."
A number of Dodgers players celebrated Thursday's win over the Diamondbacks, which clinched the National League West title, by jumping into the pool at the Diamondbacks home field after the fans had left.
Arizona Senator John McCain responded by Tweeting: "No-class act by a bunch of overpaid, immature, arrogant, spoiled brats! The #Dodgers are idiots"
The response by the Diamondbacks players was varied. Pitcher Brandon McCarthy was not bothered by it at all, but infielder Willie Bloomquist called it "tired and disrespectful."
Tired of the one-sided trash talk, Dodgers closer Brian Wilson took to Twitter Friday night with maybe the greatest comeback the sports world has seen this year.
Senator McComplain knows a thing or two about coming in second and watching someone take a plunge in the pool (I mean poll) #POoLITICS— Brian Wilson (@BrianWilson38) September 20, 2013
McCain, of course, finished second to U.S. president Barack Obama during the 2008 race for the White House.
