The New York Daily News is reporting New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez was approached for cash by Anthony Bosch -- owner of the now-closed Biogenesis of America clinic in Coral Gables, Fla., -- now at the centre of Major League Baseball’s current performance-enhancing drug scandal.

According to the report, Rodriguez rejected Bosch’s request - believed to be in the hundreds of thousands - before Bosch began cooperating with Major League Baseball's long-running investigation.

On Wednesday, a report by CBS News cited a league executive claiming that Bosch could implicate as many as 25 MLB players.

Among those being implicated other than Rodriguez are Toronto Blue Jays left fielder Melky Cabrera and Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun.
