On the mound, Sarnia right-hander Nick Bucci pitched five innings.

At the plate London’s Jamie Romak and Toronto’s Tim Smith each hit home runs.

And on the scoreboard Canada wound up 4-0 winners over Chinese Taipei to move to 4-0 in the 39th World Cup in Aguadulce, Panama.

Canada shares top spot in Pool A with Holland and host Panama, who Canada plays Friday night, with North Vancouver’s Scott Richmond on the mound at Rod Carew Stadium in Panama City.

Bucci allowed only two hits and a walk, fanning seven.

The rest of the bullpen -- Andrew Albers of North Battleford, Sask. pitching two innings, Regina’s Dustin Molleken and Edmonton’s Mike Johnson, an inning apiece -- combined on the shut out.

Romak belted a solo homer in the fourth and Smith hit a two-run homer to left in the fifth. Cole Armstrong of Surrey, B.C. hit a fly ball to score Jimmy Van Ostrand of Richmond, B.C. with the game’s first run.
