RESULTS THROUGH SEPT. 12

- Dennis Holmberg hadn't flip his wig, or his calendar, but the single-A Auburn manager erected a Christmas tree in the Doubledays' clubhouse.

Two seasons ago, he put in a fish tank in the clubhouse and added a fish after every win. At the end of the season, there were 55 swimmers.

Unlike the fish tank, the Christmas tree will benefit Auburn area children. Pitchers bought gifts for girls while position players for the boys.

"It's a distraction to take away from the players. They walk into the clubhouse, see the tree with lights, ornaments and presents, it adds a bit of soothing relaxation," he said.

- Jesse Litsch worked five innings as single-A Dunedin edged Fort Myers, 4-3, to tie their best-of-three Florida State League playoff series. Connor Falkenbach recorded two outs in the ninth before giving up a single to Trevor Plouffe. Catcher Robinzon Diaz picked him off first, ending the game. David Winfree a 13-homer man, had just swung and missed a 2-0 pitch.

- Ismael Ramirez worked seven innings and Rob Cosby hit a two-run homer as triple-A Syracuse beat Pawtucket 5-3 on Monday.

Ramirez, 25, allowed two runs on four hits in his third start. He is 7-5 with a 2.08 ERA for double-A New Hampshire. For Cosby it was his 18th homer. Two batters later, Ryan Roberts hit a solo shot.

- A throwing error by Tracy Thorpe allowed the winning run to score as double-A New Hampshire ended its season with a 3-2 loss to Portland. A leadoff homer, a double and the error allowed Portland to rally for two runs. Thorpe, 3-1, took the loss, surrendering two runs without recording an out.

Do you think Jesse Litsch will bounce back and pitch for the Blue Jays again?
  Yes, the bullpen needs help
No, his injury was too severe
  I don't want him back
