Phillips, Romero, Murphy outrighted to triple-A by Jays

TORONTO - The Toronto Blue Jays cleared some space on their 40-man roster by outrighting catcher Kyle Phillips plus left-handers Davis Romero and Bill Murphy to triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.

This Blue Jays now have 38 players on the roster.

Phillips, 25, appeared in five games for the Blue Jays last season, batting .278 with three doubles and two RBIs.

Murphy, 28, pitched in eight games for Toronto, posting a 3.18 ERA in 11 1-3 innings. He was 0-6 with a 7.59 ERA in 45 games for Las Vegas, all in relief.

Romero, 26, posted a 3-6 record with one save and a 5.98 ERA in 93.1 innings for the 51s.
