TORONTO - Jose Reyes delivered an extra-innings RBI walk-off single Saturday as the Toronto Blue Jays overcame a ninth-inning blown save for a 5-4 win to square this three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays at a win apiece.
The bottom of the 10th game-winning rally started with a leadoff bunt single by Colby Rasmus. When Munenori Kawasaki swung at strike three for the second out, Rasmus stole second, bringing Reyes to the plate for the fifth time in the game.
The Rays countered with lefthander Jeff Beliveau. Reyes drilled the first pitch he saw on the ground into left field and Rasmus beat the throw to the plate, upending catcher Curt Casali before he could receive the ball.
Closer Casey Janssen had coughed up his fourth blown save of the season in the ninth, trying to protect a 4-3 lead. Reyes’ hit made a winner of reliever Dustin McGowan, who worked a scoreless top of the 10th for his fifth win of the year.
