As the Blue Jays get closer to the edge of the abyss, it is hard not to wonder what the face of this team will look like next year.

Sunday’s loss to the White Sox leaves Toronto in third place in the American League East, 7.5 games behind the Baltimore Orioles. They’ve also fallen four games out in the wild-card race, with three teams to leapfrog to gain a piece of that action.

And time is running out.

As they start looking at their options for next year, Alex Anthopoulos and friends are going to have to make some tough decisions on players on whom they hold, well ... options.

The Jays have 2015 options worth a total of $28.2 million on Brandon Morrow, Adam Lind, J.A. Happ and Dustin McGowan.

Morrow’s enormous potential has never been reached, largely because he can’t stay healthy long enough. It is still questionable if he’ll get back from his current tendon sheath injury in time to be a factor this year.
