Adam Lind rejoined the Blue Jays out on the west coast.

That didn’t seem to jack up the troops.

So maybe the arrival of Edwin Encarnacion will do the deed.

Following three dispiriting losses in Seattle, where the Jays whiffed on just about every pitch, they will be looking for more in the way of offence over the next three games against the White Sox and the following two games next week in Milwaukee.

Baseball is a team sport, but Encarnacion has shown earlier in the season that if he can get hot, he can carry a team.

The Jays need a spark and, more to the point, they need to pile up some wins, get on a roll and get on a hot streak as they have done a couple of times this season.

With the Jays 71/2 games back of the “we’ll never-lose-again” Orioles, winning the division would seem to be a goal that is out of their reach.
