OAKLAND - As if losing for a sixth time in seven games on this road trip wasn't penalty enough for the Blue Jays, they now have to deal with another long-term injury, this one to Adam Lind.

Since June 14, Lind has been playing on what he believed to be a bruised right foot, after fouling a ball off the top of it in Baltimore. Now, an MRI has revealed a fracture in a bone connected to the right big toe.

"My mom wanted me to get an MRI, which I hadn't had yet, because it wasn't getting any better," said Lind. "So I asked for an MRI and it showed up (in the big bone that connects to the great toe on his right foot)."

Lind is hoping that the initial estimate -- that he would miss as much as two months -- is wrong.

"The doctor here said six to eight weeks," he said. "I'm going to a doctor in Charlotte on Friday. We're hoping it's a better prognosis than they told us here."
