Former New York Yankees great Mariano Rivera built his legendary career on the back of one pitch — a cut fastball. It was a pitch he used to shatter thousands of left-handed hitters bats.

Not everyone can throw a cut fastball like Rivera or a splitter like former Cub closer Bruce Sutter, or a fastball like Nolan Ryan.

But when you are a career journeyman pitcher you would think you would run through the gamut of different pitches in the search for one that would elevate your game and your worth.
