TORONTO - Casey Janssen was on the floor of the Blue Jays clubhouse, doing his afternoon stretching, when three reporters walked past him and he said to no one in particular: “The press is here. All three of them.

“See what happens when you’re in first place? Everybody wants a piece of you.”

He then laughed at his own joke as did we. And all around him there were smiles.

At the back of the clubhouse, Adam Lind was sitting by his locker, doing what all ball players do before games, playing with his cell phone when he offered an assessment he hadn’t spoken about before. This is his eighth season with the Jays and he is the longest serving member of this team.

“It’s never felt like this before,” he said. And he wasn’t kidding. In his time, it has never been like this. “Really,” Lind said. There was no need to elaborate.
