TORONTO - With seven days left in May, Edwin Encarnacion wasn't about to rest on his laurels.
Coming into Sunday's game against Oakland, Steady Eddie had ripped May apart as he had bashed 11 home runs and driven in 24 runs.
That's a great month right there but with seven days and seven games left, why stop now?
In the fourth inning Sunday, Encarnacion added to his mayhem as on a 2-2 pitch from lefty Drew Pomeranz, he drilled a ball high and deep to left and into the seats for his 12th home run of the month and 14th of the season.
The 12 dingers in the month, by the way, tie him with Jose Bautista for the Jays record for the most homers hit in May.
Encarnacion's blast along with a solid outing from J.A. Happ and three stolen bases by Jose Reyes were the highlights of the day in the Jays' 3-1 victory before a sellout of 45,277.
