The upcoming series against the Boston Red Sox may be a lifeline for Kevin Pillar.

With the Red Sox rolling out two left-handed starters in the three-game series, that should allow the right-handed hitting Pillar an opportunity to show what he can do in a big series.

With Colby Rasmus on the disabled list with a hamstring issue, manager John Gibbons has gone with a platoon of Pillar and Anthony Gose, who starts against right-handers.

On the weekend, Pillar made the start in Saturday and went 2-for-4 with a run scored, his big hit being a double in the eighth inning when he would come around to score the go-ahead run in the Jays 4-2 victory.
