Pretty well every day without fail Blue Jays pitcher Marcus Stroman gets in touch with Aaron Sanchez, another talented young pitcher in the Jays organization.

The way Stroman talks about Sanchez, you’d think they’ve known each other forever. But the fact is, the two didn’t meet until the Florida instructional league in 2012. But as Stroman said on Saturday prior to the Jays’ 5-3 loss to the Los Angeles Angels, they just clicked and have formed an extremely tight, lasting friendship. Whenever one pitches, they’ll break down the performance the next day, what went well, what didn’t, how to improve.

“If we had a rough outing, we’ll kind of talk about it, just clear our heads, get it right and vice versa,” said Stroman. “If we had a good one, we’ll talk about what worked. It’s good to have someone there who has the same goals as you.”

Both are first-round draft picks of the Jays (Sanchez in 2010, Stroman in 2012) and both are right-handed pitchers.
