TORONTO - Dustin McGowan is hoping that by addressing his blood sugar issues, he might be able to alleviate the symptoms of fatigue that seem to be preventing him from going deep into games this season.

McGowan, a type 1 diabetic, has struggled with his stamina in his return as a starting pitcher and told TSN radio's Scott MacArthur that his blood sugar has been spiking during games. He said he is going to start running more, and might start wearing an insulin pump during games to get control of it.

McGowan doesn't think his disease has anything to do with the various injuries that have limited his career, but that it probably has hindered his recovery from those injuries.
