The Blue Jays are a team known to live by the big inning. On Thursday, for the second night in a row, they died by the big inning.
Toronto blew a 6-1 early lead Wednesday on their way to a 10-8 defeat at the hands of the Baltimore Orioles. On Thursday, they squandered a tidy six-inning pitching performance by Drew Hutchison as the Orioles scored nine times against the normally-reliable Blue Jay bullpen in the seventh and eighth innings for an 11-4 rout.
In the last two games, Jays relievers have seen its collective ERA go from 3.75 to 4.90, allowing 13 earned runs in eight innings while the team’s record has fallen back to .500 at 11-11.
