R.A. Dickey was hoping this particular demon was behind him, a thing of the past.

But in a game where the Blue Jays entered with visions of a three-game sweep, the old gopher ball came knocking on Dickey’s door.

Haunted by the home run in his first season with the Jays -- he gave up a career high 35 -- Dickey was hammered for a couple more as the Houston Astros won Thursday’s finale, 6-4.

They were the first dingers Dickey, who was making his third start, has allowed this season. But that will be cold comfort for the knuckleball artist.
