Surrounded by Montreal sports writers and broadcasters on Friday night, Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista was asked what he thought of the atmosphere at the Olympic Stadium for the club’s second-to-last spring season game.

With 46,121 baseball-starved fans in attendance, one scribe wanted to know if Bautista, who homered in a 5-4 Jays victory over the New York Mets, thought the atmosphere was similar to a MLB post-season game.

Not taking the easy way out (basically just agreeing with the dude’s assertion) Bautista went on to say (somewhat forlornly) that he wouldn’t know, having never played in a post-season game during his 10-year career in the Major Leagues.

And by most accounts, Bautista won’t be playing in the post-season any time soon.

What a difference a year makes.

At the beginning of last season, the Blue Jays were picked by an army of pundits, experts and insiders to win the American League title, even the World Series.
