It was the day after Ricky Romero pitched and at the Blue Jays camp the left-hander was still the talk of the town.

Against the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday, Romero allowed one run on two hits over four innings and showed poise and confidence for a second consecutive outing.

The display was good enough to earn him a start against the Tigers next Tuesday. It will be a good test as the Tigers are at home and will be fielding what should be close to their regular lineup. That’s about as tough a test as any pitcher can have.

“The big talk in camp right now is Ricky Romero,” manager John Gibbons enthused Thursday morning. “It looks like he’s on the way back and that’s what excites us all. So we’ll see how it all shakes out.”
