DUNEDIN, FLA. - There is some irony in the notion that, more or less at the mid-point of spring training, this under-the-radar Blue Jays outfit probably has a lot more going for it than the one that grabbed all the off-season headlines a year ago.

That team fell flat on its face, besieged by injuries and poor performances. Of course, this team could very well go that same route but it’s hard to imagine so many of those same things going wrong again. Where last year’s team seemed a collection of strangers at times, there is more a sense of community in the clubhouse this year. There is sincere belief and trust in the room this time around and, yes, trust is an easy commodity to have in the middle of March.

Monday, the team enjoyed its first off-day since the start of camp, a good time to take a snapshot of where things sit and where they might be headed.
