If 2013 was described as an “all-in” season for the Blue Jays, then this year was “I’ll-catch-you-later.”

When the time came for the Blue Jays at the poker table, management said “check.”

It wasn’t until the weekend, when Ervin Santana lowered his asking price to one year, that the Jays said “we’re in.”

They’re not “all in” or else the free-agent right-hander would be winging his way to delightfully different Dunedin and Meese Hospital for a physical.

While the Jays are bidding — a one-year offer in $14-million US range — so are the Baltimore Orioles. And now the Minnesota Twins have now sat down to play too, according to John Heyman of CBSSports.com. He reports that the Twins have made a three-year offer.

R.A. Dickey put up five zeros, knuckling Houston Astros hitters under Sunday afternoon at the Osceola County Stadium and then weighed in on the Santana discussion.
