DUNEDIN, FLA. - It’s a longshot and Marcus Stroman knows it. But that doesn’t stop him from dreaming big.

With as many as seven or eight legitimate candidates for one spot in the Blue Jays starting rotation, the 23-year-old prospect is in the mix but will have to leapfrog over several other more experienced candidates over the course of the next six weeks to do it.

“It’s awesome to hear people mention that I could be the fifth starter,” Stroman said after impressing his bosses with a 35-pitch side session on Day 2 of training camp.

“I know there’s a lot that goes into it. I will do everything in my power to be that guy but if it doesn’t work out, it doesn’t work out. I’ll be working hard to get there sometime this year.”
