TORONTO - For beleaguered Blue Jays manager John Gibbons a return home to Hogtown was akin to putting his head in a lion's mouth.

The Gibbons critics were having a field day Monday following his team's disastrous 2-8 road trip.

Even with the Jays 5-2 victory over New York on Monday, his detractors will not be satisfied.

Before his head hit the pillow on Sunday following a return flight from Houston, Sportsnet's baseball analysts were predicting/calling for his dismissal and when he awoke the morning men on the Fan 590 were pounding on the same theme.

When you are a manager of a team that has failed so abysmally as the Jays have this season, fans look for scalps and Gibbons, as the manager, is the first head they want to roll.

Gibbons, having gone through the painful process of walking the plank back in 2008, takes it all in stride without a hint of bitterness or complaint.
