Chien-Ming Wang will return to make a spot start for the Blue Jays on Saturday, having made 17 starts in Buffalo with a 2.72 ERA. His last stint with the Jays ended with back-to-back games (June 27 and July 2) in which he failed to get out of the second inning.

”I think it’s just going to be one start that we need, because of the double-header (in New York),” said manager John Gibbons. “He had some other good starts for us and has been doing good down there.”

Some Pop, No Fizz

The Blue Jays went into Friday’s game batting .191 with runners in scoring position over the last 12 games and had gone 24 games without hitting a home run with a runner in scoring position. In that span, they had his 17 solo home runs and four with a runner on first base. Edwin Encarnacion extended that to 18 solo home runs with his first-inning HR.
