After Mark Buehrle spent Wednesday evening up to his eyeballs in alligators, the Blue Jay offence finally came to his rescue.

For seven innings, Buehrle pitched on the edge of disaster, fending off the dangerous Boston Red Sox scoring machine through one crisis after another. Then, with his night over after seven remarkable innings, on the wrong end of a 1-0 score, he was given a gift.

The Blue Jay hitters, stymied on just two hits through six innings by Boston starter Jake Peavy, erupted for a pair of seventh-inning runs and a 2-1 lead that the Toronto bullpen was able to shepherd through the final two innings.
