With the return of Brett Lawrie, somebody had to go the other way and that player was the popular Munenori Kawasaki.

It was the second exit for Kawasaki, who was sent to Buffalo for two days when Jose Reyes made his return from a lengthy stint on the DL. When Reyes returned to take over at short, Kawasaki moved to second base and split time there with Emilio Bonifacio. With Lawrie as the second baseman, Kawasaki is the odd man out.
