BOSTON — Two weeks ago it would have been hard to look at this four-game date with the Red Sox as any sort of a statement series. The Blue Jays were languishing, just a speck in Boston’s rearview mirror.

But an 11-game winning streak has put Toronto back into the hunt in the American League East and now the key is to stay there. Alas for the Jays, if there was a statement to be made off this 7-4 Red Sox victory it was that Boston is not going to take the challenge lightly.
