TORONTO - First pitch Sunday afternoon at the Rogers Centre is 1:07.

Plate ump Manny Gonzalez, along with Tony Randazzo, Wally Bell and Dan Bellino, are scheduled to arrive four minutes earlier.

What time should Brett Lawrie, Jose Bautista and John Gibbons show?

Would a letter of apology help? A giant card?

It would have to be signed by everyone (although Jays pitchers never complain) that the Toronto American League Baseball Club Inc. will no longer complain or show up umpires.

In other words, they would behave.

Make no mistake, the Jays earned their reputation arguing early and often with umpires in April and March.

Right now this is a Don Cherry-Brian Burke mismatch.

Lawrie was rung up by Bellino on a 1-2 pitch in Friday’s loss to the Baltimore Orioles. It was the fourth pitch of the at-bat. The first three pitches weren’t in the rectangle shown on the TV screen. Strike three was on the border.
