At 12:12 Sunday afternoon, New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman and umpire Joe West went for a walk in the rain.
They surveyed a wet Yankee Stadium, walking in left field and foul ground down the third base line as the infield was covered by a tarp.
Within half an hour, the Blue Jays-Yankees contest was postponed. Rain was forecast until 9 p.m. A makeup date was not announced but Toronto’s next visit to New York is in August.
R.A. Dickey, scheduled to start Sunday, will now start Monday afternoon against the Tampa Bay Rays and Jake Odorizzi.
