DUNEDIN, FLA. - Get ready for some more J.P. Arencibia fireworks on opening day.

A few short days ago it appeared as if Arencibia would find himself on the bench on opening day, due to the thinking that knuckleballer R.A. Dickey would have his own personal catcher — Henry Blanco as it turns out — working with him in the April 2 game vs. the Cleveland Indians.

However, on Monday, the Jays announced that Blanco had won the backup job but that he wouldn’t be restricted to catching Dickey’s games, that Arencibia was also seen to be fit and proficient enough to catch him.

So, on opening day, Arencibia will get the nod.
