Former Blue Jay Travis Snider still a fan favourite

Travis Snider doesn’t normally think too much about the future.

But since spring training began last month, he’s been looking forward to March 26.

Traded from the Blue Jays to the Pittsburgh Pirates last July, the outfielder has yet to play his old team. And while the Pirates won’t be travelling to Toronto this season, they will head to Dunedin at the end of the month for a spring training match-up.

“It will definitely be exciting (to play in Dunedin),” Snider said after batting practice at McKechnie Field on Tuesday. “It’s a chance to play against your old buddies, see the coaches ... and play in front of Blue Jays fans again.”

Drafted by Toronto in the first round of the 2006 amateur draft, Snider grew into his own as a Blue Jay and quickly became a fan favourite.

But for someone whom Baseball America ranked the sixth best prospect in baseball in 2008, Snider had a rocky start to his career.

Is the season lost for the Toronto Blue Jays or is there still time to turn things around?
Plenty of time to get it turned around
They're quickly running out of time
It's lost. When do the Argos start?
It was over before it began
