Ten under-the-radar players for Blue Jays

At a training camp such as the Blue Jays’, with many candidates and few job openings, the best an outsider can hope for is a chance to be noticed in the spring and make an impression that will carry over when necessity strikes.

Some of spring’s understudies will eventually be called upon at some point in the season and a few of them will possibly play some very important roles on the way to what the Jays hope will be a run at a playoff spot.

Already, a few names on the depth chart have put themselves in the front office’s consciousness as they try to build depth.

Here are 10 players who could be X-factors for the 2013 Blue Jays:

J.A. Happ

Whether or not he breaks with the big club, Happ will have an impact on the 2013 season. As the clear No. 6 in a five-man rotation, it’s just a matter of when, not if, he is needed to start games.
