Spring training isn’t just for the players. With a field staff that is still getting used to each other, the Jays will use Grapefruit League games to get synchronized.

“The big thing is to get on the same page with your third base coach, getting the signs communicated,” said manager John Gibbons. “Early on we won’t be doing a lot of hit and runs or bunting. We want guys swinging the bats, trying to establish their timing. As we get further along we’ll be working on the details. (Luis) has to get used to my signs.”
