Blue Jays have Caribbean vibe

DUNEDIN, FLA. - On any given day this season, six of the eight Blue Jay position players could be products of the baseball-crazy culture of the Dominican Republic.

Not only that, but the Dominican regulars are probably going to be the keys to what is expected to be an offensive machine.

Jose Reyes at shortstop and leading off. Melky Cabrera in left field, batting second. Jose Bautista in right field and batting third. Edwin Encarnacion at first base or DH, batting fourth. Either Emilio Bonifacio or Maicer Izturis at second base batting ninth. And if Izturis is at second, then Bonifacio could be giving either Brett Lawrie a day off at third base or taking Colby Rasmus’s spot in centre field. Reliever Esmil Rogers could be pitching. And if the Jays need help from Buffalo, Moises Sierra my be one of the first call-ups
