Jays closer has to take things easy this spring

Coming off minor shoulder surgery, Casey Janssen is going to take things slowly early in spring training.

First of all, we need to realize the definition of “minor” shoulder surgery is any surgery performed on some other poor schmuck’s shoulder, not your own.

For Janssen as he goes through the first few days of camp, he has recognized that it’s going to take some extra time to pull everything together. With almost seven weeks remaining before opening day, he and the Blue Jays can afford to be patient and build him up slowly.

The surgery — conducted Nov. 16 in L.A. by Dr. Neal El Attrache, was to repair “lingering soreness” in the AC joint at the top of the shoulder, where part of the shoulder blade meets the collarbone.

A “small portion” at the end of Janssen’s collarbone was shaved down to “relieve the discomfort,” the team said.

Is the season lost for the Toronto Blue Jays or is there still time to turn things around?
Plenty of time to get it turned around
They're quickly running out of time
It's lost. When do the Argos start?
It was over before it began
