Blue Jays' 10 burning questions
By KEN FIDLIN, QMI Agency

This may not be a typical Blue Jays training camp where many jobs are won and lost. The roster is all but set in stone. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t a lot of things that require close attention over the next seven weeks.

1. The bullpen

Apart from the five starting pitchers, who have already been given specific season-opening assignments by manager John Gibbons, there are 25 other pitchers in camp. From that unwieldy group, the Blue Jays’ brain trust will spend the spring trying to identify seven who deserve to start the season in the bullpen.

A couple are no-brainers. Casey Janssen and Darren Oliver would have to run into some physical difficulties over the next seven weeks to find themselves off the opening day roster. Janssen was tabbed as the closer after Francisco Cordero failed miserably. Cordero had inherited the role from Sergio Santos, who had a season-long shoulder injury that ended in surgery.
