TORONTO - Colby Rasmus may have been chilled experiencing minus-20C temperatures on the prairies last week.

But the Blue Jays centre fielder now has a raise and a new, one-year contract to keep him warm.

General manager Alex Anthopoulos signed Rasmus to a one-year, $4.675- million US contract, avoiding salary arbitration.

The Alabama resident came out of the hack and did a pratfall during his first-ever curling lesson at the Granite Club in Saskatoon on Friday.

Rasmus, along with J.P. Arencibia, Anthony Gose, Drew Hutchison and manager John Gibbons, visited CFB Edmonton, taking turns riding in a Leopard C2, the Army’s main battle tank on Sunday.

Represented by the Beverly Hills Sports Council, Rasmus receives a raise from the $2.7 million he earned in 2012.
