The Top-5 reasons to like knuckleballer Dickey
By Joel Colomby, QMI Agency

The Blue Jays are in talks with the New York Mets to land National League Cy Young Award winner R.A. Dickey. (Reuters/Files)

The trade is still to be finalized, but here are a few things to point why adding pitcher R.A. Dickey could be worthwhile:

1. What comes after

Many hitters, even great ones, say it takes a few at-bats to get used to regular 90-mph pitching again after facing a knuckleballer. Despite their losing record last year, the Mets were 14-6 when facing the same team the following day after Dickey pitched.

2. He’s a young 38

Because he has been a full-time starter for only the past three years, Dickey should have plenty left in his arm. Heck, he might even pitch until he is 50.

3. Relief for the relievers

It only stands to reason that a guy who led the NL in complete games and went seven innings a whopping 22 times last season is going to save wear and tear on the bullpen. And, seemingly, add a few miles per hour to their fastball.

Is the season lost for the Toronto Blue Jays or is there still time to turn things around?
Plenty of time to get it turned around
They're quickly running out of time
It's lost. When do the Argos start?
It was over before it began
