TORONTO - Rumours that the Blue Jays could be close to landing knuckleballer R.A. Dickey from the New York Mets began to gather serious momentum on Friday night.

Though the Jays have been showing interest in Dickey for a while — GM Alex Anthopoulos reportedly inquired into his availability during the winter meetings — numerous online reports suggested that a multi-player deal to send the 2012 National League Cy Young Award winner north of the border could be ironed out as early as Saturday.

Heading to New York from Toronto’s roster could be 26-year-old catcher J.P. Arencibia, and 22-year-old centre fielder Anthony Gose.

Are you encouraged by the Toronto Blue Jays' recent winning streak?
Yes, team is starting to gel
No, team is not championship calibre
