TORONTO - The Toronto Blue Jays signed pitcher Justin Germano to a minor league contract on Friday that includes an invitation to next year's spring training.

Germano, 30, spent last season between the Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs organizations and made 12 starts along with one relief appearance for the Cubs. The right-hander went just 2-10, however, while recording a 6.75 earned run average.

The journeyman hurler pitched in one game for the Red Sox before being traded to the Cubs in July, tossing 5 2/3 scoreless innings of relief while striking out seven.

Over parts of seven major league seasons with San Diego, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Boston and the Cubs, Germano has compiled a 10-30 record with a 5.27 ERA in 93 games (48 starts).

Is the season lost for the Toronto Blue Jays or is there still time to turn things around?
Plenty of time to get it turned around
They're quickly running out of time
It's lost. When do the Argos start?
It was over before it began
